What is a Noise Exemption Permit?
A Noise Exemption Permit is a temporary permit that allows for exceptions to the Property Responsibility Bylaw regarding noise between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. (Monday to Friday), and 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. (Saturdays, Sundays, and statutory holidays).
When should I get a permit?
Any individual or organization intending to hold an activity or event should apply for a Noise Exemption Permit if it is expected to exceed allowable sound levels or take place outside approved timeframes. This includes activities such as:
Movie production and outdoor filming
Construction or landscaping tasks
Concrete finishing
Large-scale public events or music festivals
How far in advance do I need to apply?
Applications must be submitted at least 7 days and no more than 30 days prior to the planned activity or event. Failure to meet this deadline may result in the Town being unable to approve the permit in time.

How will I know if my request is approved?
The Town will notify applicants electronically regarding the status of their application, including permit issuance. If a permit is denied, a Town representative will follow up by phone or provide a written explanation by letter or email.
Can a permit be revoked?
Yes. Municipal Enforcement may revoke a Noise Exemption Permit if the applicant fails to implement sufficient noise mitigation measures or violates permit conditions. Fines may also be issued for non-compliance.
