1st Avenue North Infrastructure Project

In 2024, the Town of Diamond Valley is undertaking a  construction project to replace the underground water and sewer infrastructure beneath 1 Avenue North from 4a Street NW to 1a Street NE.  Council approved the project in the 2024 Budget as it was an area identified as an area requiring major water line repair.  Project work will conclude with road paving and the construction of sidewalks along 1 Avenue North.

Work began in the first week of June 2024, though residents may have noticed some preliminary investigatory work starting in late May, involving locating shallow service depths and locations.

Important Information for Residents:

• Direct Communication: Residents directly affected by the construction will receive detailed information delivered door-to-door. This will include details about temporary water servicing and scheduling. 
• Road Closures: Those residents living north of the construction project (1^st Ave N) may encounter a road closure when construction crosses an intersection. When this occurs, clearly defined detours will be identified. The disruption will be limited to the shortest possible duration.
• Signage: Signs have been placed to inform those residents living North of the construction site about the ongoing work and potential traffic disruptions. A web link is provided for additional information.
• Notice Provided to Residents: The Town delivered updated notices to 1^st Ave residents on June 17,  detailing the scope of the project and answering some FAQs (also posted below). Shawne Construction will provide specific disruption notification throughout the construction process outlining and detailing any disruptions or requirements as the construction progresses from west to east.
