The Town of Diamond Valley has secured $2.6 million through the Government of Alberta’s Flood Recovery and Erosion Control (FREC) program to upgrade and enhance its flood berms along the Sheep River.
The Town requested — and received — approval to reallocate unused FREC funds to ensure the berm meets updated provincial flood protection standards identified in the 2025 Sheep River Flood Study.
Mayor Barry Crane stated: “We are grateful for the opportunity to provide improved flood protection to our residents. These upgrades are a vital step in protecting homes, businesses, and infrastructure from future climate-related risks.”
