Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Diamond Valley amalgamated in January, and I have changed my mailing address with all of my suppliers/utilities/bank/etc. Why is this happening now?
A: The Town of Diamond Valley have been in ongoing discussions with Canada Post to find a suitable solution that ensures mail reaches its intended recipient. Ahead of amalgamation, we understood that shifting mailing addresses to include Diamond Valley, while continuing to use the same postal code, was the suitable solution. Until further notice, please revert all mailing addresses back to your original – Black Diamond or Turner Valley – and continue to use your same postal code.
Q: If I don’t change my mailing address back to Black Diamond or Turner Valley will I still receive my mail?
A: Canada Post is working hard to ensure mail reaches the intended recipients. Please make an effort to update your mailing address in the weeks ahead to avoid possible issues with mail delivery.
Q: Do I have to revert my mailing address and my home address for deliveries?
A: Canada Post has directed businesses and residents to use their original town names (Black Diamond or Turner Valley) for their Post Office Box mailing address only. For courier delivery, the home address can read Diamond Valley.
Q: What is the Town doing about this?
A: The Town of Diamond Valley continues to work with Canada Post to address this situation and find a suitable long-term outcome.
Q: What if the expected mail doesn’t arrive? What can I do about this?
A: On the very small chance this may occur, mail will be returned to the sender.
Q: Could the Town have done anything to mitigate this outcome?
A: Ahead of amalgamation, we understood that shifting mailing addresses to include Diamond Valley, while continuing to use the same postal code, was the suitable solution. Canada Post has since communicated that this is not working. Until further notice, please revert all mailing addresses back to your original – Black Diamond or Turner Valley – and continue to use your same postal code.
Q: What if people have changed their addresses already? Do they have to change it back?
A: If you have already updated your driver’s licence and/or vehicle registration with a Diamond Valley mailing address, there is no need to go back and change those to your previous mailing address.
