[ARCHIVED] Town Notice: Wildlife Interactions Near the Off-Leash Dog Park

Dog Park Notice to Residents (1080 x 1080 px)

The Town of Diamond Valley is aware of a recent resident report regarding an interaction between a dog and a deer near the Off-Leash Dog Park. The Town recognizes the concern this has raised in the community and wishes to clarify the rules, responsibilities, and reporting pathways.

Wildlife Act enforcement is the responsibility of Alberta Fish and Wildlife Officers. Residents who witness wildlife being harmed or harassed should report directly through Report a Poacher at 1-800-642-3800 (available 24/7) so that provincial authorities can investigate.

Municipal bylaws are enforced by Town Community Peace Officers, who routinely patrol the off-leash park. Dogs are permitted to be off-leash only within the designated area and must remain under the control of their owner at all times. To report a municipal bylaw concern, call 403-933-0334 (24 hours).

Town monitoring continues through regular enforcement patrols. In addition, a draft wildlife/deer management procedure is currently under review and, once finalized, will be shared publicly.
