The Town of Diamond Valley, in partnership with the Town of Cochrane and the MD of Bighorn, has been awarded $200,000 from YourAlberta (Government of Alberta) Municipal Affairs through the Alberta Community Partnership (ACP) grant program.
The Unified Response project, running from March 2025 to March 2026, will improve emergency coordination through joint planning, resource sharing, and standardized training. A key focus is developing a Municipal Emergency Management Plan (MEMP) template that aligns with the 2024 Alberta Incident Management System (AIMS) to ensure a consistent, scalable response to emergencies.
Additional efforts include regional emergency coordination strategies, shared training programs, and large-scale disaster simulations to enhance preparedness across municipalities. Diamond Valley will oversee project administration, with Cochrane and the MD of Bighorn contributing expertise and resources.
This initiative will help create a more resilient, coordinated emergency response framework for all three communities.
