Engaging with Council

There are a few different ways that you can engage with Council.  If you have questions about any of them, please contact the Legislative Services Manager.  All of the following options are subject to the terms of Council's Procedure Bylaw.

Question Period

Please read the brochure "Question Period (PDF)".   If you have a question that you would like to submit, please use the provided Question Period Request Form and submit it to the Legislative Services Manager before the meeting, as outlined on the form.

If you require time to provide Council with information on a matter requiring a decision of Council, you may Request a Delegation to make your presentation.  Submit your completed Request to the Legislative Services Manager.  If you are able to be added to a Council Meeting Agenda as a Delegation, you will have a maximum of 15 minutes to make your presentation.  If you have questions about speaking with Council please contact the Legislative Services Manager.

Public Hearings

Council Meetings may have Public Hearings on any Agenda.  These are pre-scheduled and advertised in the Western Wheel and on the Town's website.  Other methods of advertisement may be used if deemed appropriate in the circumstances.  The advertising will outline the ways and schedule for you to make a written submission or to speak at the hearing.  The Procedures for a Public Hearing are set out to ensure everyone who is affected by the matter at hand gets a chance to be heard.
