Fire Inspections
The Diamond Valley Fire Department plays an active role in preventing fire incidents through inspections, investigations and public education. We are committed to the reduction of fire risk by working with our businesses, residents and the general public to encourage fire safety.
Fire Inspections
All businesses and building owners are responsible for complying with the National Building and Fire Codes (NBC, NFC). The Town of Diamond Valley’s Quality Management Plan establishes how often fire inspections are required depending on the type of business (occupancy). Fire inspections allow the Fire Department to work with businesses and organizations to ensure the safety of employees, customers and the public through compliance with codes and standards and education on fire safety. Fire inspections can reduce and prevent fire incidents and are conducted by our Safety Codes Officers.
New businesses will require a fire inspection prior to opening and the issuance of a business license. Currently, fire inspections are included for those businesses that require a business license. Those that don’t have a business license (non-profits etc.) will be charged a fire inspection fee.

Fire Investigations
All reported dollar loss fires in the municipality are investigated to determine cause, origin and circumstance. This information helps to establish trends, works to help us develop a risk reduction strategy and may influence fire and building codes but ultimately, it can limit the chance of it happening again.
Investigations are conducted by our trained Safety Codes Officers.
Safety Codes Council
The Safety Codes Council provides a number of information sheets for residential and business/commercial occupancies on various topics of fire safety including:
- BBQ safety, smoke and CO alarms
- Fire watch, fire safety plans, compressed gas storage, propane use
