Statutory Plans
Statutory plans help shape the future of Diamond Valley by guiding land use, development, and growth in a way that aligns with community priorities and provincial legislation. These plans provide a framework for decision-making, ensuring that development is well-managed and sustainable.
- Municipal Development Plan (MDP): A long-term vision for growth and development within Diamond Valley, outlining policies for land use, transportation, infrastructure, and sustainability.
- Area Redevelopment Plans (ARPs): Plans that focus on revitalizing established areas of the town, addressing redevelopment opportunities, infrastructure improvements, and community needs.
- Area Structure Plans (ASPs): Detailed planning documents that guide development in specific areas, ensuring that new communities are designed efficiently with appropriate land uses and infrastructure.
- Intermunicipal Development Plans (IDPs): Collaborative plans between Diamond Valley and neighbouring municipalities to coordinate land use, servicing, and growth management across municipal boundaries.
Each of these plans plays a critical role in shaping the town’s future, balancing growth with the needs of residents, businesses, and the environment. Updates and opportunities for public engagement will be provided as these plans progress.
New Statutory Plans or Statutory Plans Under Development in Diamond Valley
The following statutory plans are either currently proposed, under development or have been recently adopted:
Municipal Development Plan
A Municipal Development Plan (MDP) is a strategic document that outlines the Town’s vision, goals, and policies for growth and development over a long-term period, typically 20 to 30 years. It guides land use, transportation, housing, and infrastructure decisions to ensure sustainable and organized development within the municipality.
Status: On October 1, 2025, Town Council officially adopted Diamond Valley’s first-ever Municipal Development Plan (MDP)
This foundational document serves as the community’s roadmap for the future, guiding how our town will grow, develop, and thrive for years to come. From housing and infrastructure to parks, business opportunities, and sustainability, the MDP sets the vision for building a strong, vibrant, and resilient Diamond Valley.
Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, ideas, and feedback throughout this process. Your voices helped shape the future of our community.
