Thank you Alberta Summer Games!
A heartfelt thank you is extended to all those who participated in and contributed to the Alberta Summer Games mountain bike race event. The excitement was palpable as the community came together to support and celebrate these dedicated athletes. The youth embodied the important values learned through sport: perseverance, teamwork, and personal growth.
Special appreciation is extended to those who stepped up to deliver an amazing event and prepare an outstanding new facility – your contributions of time and talent will be forever appreciated.

Welcome Alberta Summer Games!
The Towns of Okotoks and Diamond Valley are pleased to be the host communities for the 2023 Alberta Summer Games!
The Alberta Summer Games, renowned as one of the province's premier sporting events, will bring together talented athletes aged 11-17. From July 20-23, 2023, this exhilarating competition will feature 14 sports, including baseball, swimming, rugby, and more.
We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to nearly 3000 athletes, coaches, and officials from all corners of Alberta. Supported by the dedicated Board of Directors, games staff, and over 1500 enthusiastic volunteers, we are committed to ensuring that every event is executed flawlessly and in a manner that prioritizes fun, safety, and sportsmanship. With the presence of parents, families, and passionate fans, we anticipate an estimated attendance of over 6500 people.
These Games are a celebration of young athletes' achievements and provide a platform for them to showcase their skills and reach their athletic potential. Events like the Alberta Summer Games play a crucial role in athlete development. They serve as a vital stepping stone, propelling athletes towards greater achievements. Remarkably, some participants of the Alberta Games have gone on to represent their community at the esteemed Canada Games and even proudly represented Canada at the Olympic Games.
We look forward to witnessing the incredible talent, dedication, and sportsmanship displayed by these remarkable young athletes. Join us in creating unforgettable memories at the 2023 Alberta Summer Games!
Schedule of Events
Torch Relay
We are delighted to invite you to join us for a spectacular torch relay celebration that will set the stage for an incredible Alberta Summer Games experience.
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, July 19, 2023, as we gather to cheer on our local nominated torch bearers as they embark on an exhilarating journey through the heart of Okotoks and Diamond Valley, proudly carrying the iconic ATCO torch.
The torch relay will commence in Diamond Valley at 10 am, starting on the east side of the Pump track (6 Ave). From there, our dedicated torch bearers will make their way through the charming streets, showcasing the spirit of athleticism and unity that the Alberta Summer Games represent. The relay will culminate at Centre Ave near the Town Office.
Following the morning leg, the torch relay will continue in Okotoks, commencing at 2 pm from the Okotoks Library. The torchbearers will traverse the vibrant streets, carrying the flame of inspiration, until they reach their final destination at Bill Robertson Park. This dynamic finale will leave everyone in awe and kick off the Opening Ceremonies of the Games.
We invite you, your family, and friends to line the streets, cheer on the torchbearers, and be a part of this momentous occasion. Let's come together as a community to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship, determination, and camaraderie that the Alberta Summer Games embody.

Diamond Valley to host the Mountain Bike event
The Town of Diamond Valley has united its volunteers and dedicated staff to create an exceptional 4.5km mountain bike track, poised to leave a lasting impact on both the Alberta Summer Games and local outdoor enthusiasts. This track has been meticulously groomed to offer a world-class mountain biking experience, starting at Erma Joy Brown Park behind the Scott Seaman Sports Rink and extending along the scenic Sheep River to just below the Turner Valley Golf Course before looping back to the finish line,
With a vision to provide a remarkable venue for the Alberta Summer Games, the Town has designed a track that showcases the natural beauty of the area while challenging athletes to push their limits.
Beyond the Games, this track will become a cherished amenity for local outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you're an experienced mountain biker seeking an adrenaline-fueled adventure or a nature lover eager to explore the stunning landscapes, this track promises to captivate and delight.
