What Can I Do to Embrace Sustainability?
"The question is not ‘can you make a difference', you already do make a difference. It's just a matter of what kind of difference you want to make" J.B. HillSmall Changes
Many people taking small steps in the same direction can make a big difference, and this is never more true than when it comes to sustainable living. Whether it's something as small as changing a light bulb or a large scale commitment like using only solar power, what choose has an impact. The truth is that the choices we make in our homes, within our families and in our daily lives have more impact on sustainability than almost anything else in our community. While sustainability certainly means a commitment to our environment, it also means a commitment to our community, and to the unique culture that defines Black Diamond.
Town Lead Projects
EV Chargers
Thanks to the Town of Black Diamond, Sustainable Projects Group, and Alberta Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC), the Town has completed the installation of electric vehicle (EV) chargers at several locations within the town:
- One Level 3 fast charger at the Oilfields Regional Arena
- Two Level 2 chargers at the Town Office.
- One Level 2 charger at the Park and Ride, E. Anne Vale Park.
These chargers were generously funded by the Alberta MCCAC and are available for public use. It is anticipated these chargers will support community members who own or may be considering switching to electric vehicles and visitors to the community. The chargers have been installed with a user-pay model to support ongoing operations and maintenance costs.
While cars are charging, visitors cans troll downtown to visit the local shops, enjoy a meal at one of our many eating establishments, browse our beautiful businesses, or participate in one of the many recreational activities available. We anticipate these chargers will support visitors from all over Alberta who may pass through or make the Diamond Valley their destination in the Foothills.
Special thanks to the Town for championing this project and to Sustainable Projects Group (SPG), who supported the installation and funding application for the chargers.
